Japan PE Portfolio Management Director

Description
My client is seeking an experienced Portfolio Management Director to join the Private Equity fund, specializing in post-acquisition management and value enhancement for portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, preferably in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, physics, or computer science, combined with experience in management consulting. Familiarity with the manufacturing or semiconductor industry is highly desirable.
- Post-Acquisition Management:
- Actively engage with portfolio companies to develop and implement trategic plans aimed at enhancing value.
- Involve deeply in operational improvements and financial performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with teams on cross-border M&A and roll-up strategies.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with portfolio management teams, founder families, minority shareholders, and other key stakeholders.
- Deal Exit Management:
- Lead exit activities, including building and executing exit strategies, managing due diligence, negotiating SPA terms, and providing closing support.
- Deal Execution:
- Gradually transition to and participate in deal sourcing and investment activities.
- Identify, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities aligned with the Asia Fund strategy.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, financial analysis, and market research, focusing on buyout investments in established industries.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and other relevant teams to ensure smooth transaction processes.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous learning within the team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in private equity, management consulting, or a related field.
- Experience in post-investment management or deep operational consultancy is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Financial modeling experience is preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
- Deep understanding of industry trends and dynamics, particularly in the automotive, EMS manufacturing, and automation manufacturing sectors.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science is preferred.
- An advanced degree (MBA, CFA, or equivalent) is a plus.
